Abstract

Purpose: This study was to examine the change of knowledge, attitude and practice on village health workers in Lao Cai after providing them job related empowerment education including emergency care, delivery assists and so on.
Methods: Subjects were 433 among village health workers of total 440. After empowerment education and 1 year later, subjects were surveyed twice and analysing methods were descriptive and repeated ANOVA.
Results: Knowledge, attitude, and practice were increased after empowerment education program for village health workers and remained empowerment education¡¯s effects regardless of decreasing 1 year later.
Conclusion: Empowerment education program for village health workers was helpful to increase knowledge, attitude and practice and it needed to re-education within 1 year in order to keep the high competency. Further study is needed to confirm the duration of re-education in depth.
